Program Snapshot
Ages: Competitive 12U-18U Fastpitch Teams
Seasons: Spring, summer, and fall team seasons, with organized off-season training sessions.
Typical Investment: Around $1600 for the spring/summer season, and $800 for the fall season (fall showcase teams ~$1600).
Training Location: Grand Slam USA in Urbandale/Des Moines, a full-service indoor baseball and softball training center with tunnels, indoor turf, and professional instruction. (Walker Johnston and Walnut Creek LL for outdoor practices)
Development Focus: Hitting, Pitching, Defense, Game IQ, Athleticism, and preparation for the next level of softball.

Training at Grand Slam USA
All Iowa Slammers teams train out of Grand Slam USA, Des Moines’ most complete indoor baseball and softball training center. The facility offers tunnels, indoor turf space, and access to professional instructors, giving Slammers players reliable year‑round space to work on hitting, pitching, defense, speed, and strength. This integrated environment allows athletes to combine team practices, individual lessons, and strength training in one location.
College Prep and Exposure
For players whose goal is to play at the college level, Iowa Slammers provides a framework to help families navigate that process. We guide athletes toward appropriate camps, showcases, and communication with college coaches, and we work to place players in competitive events that showcase their abilities. Our emphasis on daily development, character, and coachability helps players become the type of recruits college programs look for.
